Yes. Our course is designed to meet applicable Alaska requirements for defensive driving. If you are taking the course for a specific court, DMV, or point-reduction requirement, confirm your eligibility before registering.

Why would I take a defensive driving course in Alaska?
Alaska drivers may take an approved defensive driving course to improve their driving skills and, when eligible, receive a reduction in points on their driving record. Courses may also be required in certain circumstances.

Can defensive driving reduce points on my Alaska driving record?
Yes. Successful completion of an approved defensive driving course can reduce your accumulated Alaska driver’s license points by 2. We report completion to Alaska DMV, which applies the reduction. This does not dismiss your citation.

Should I pay my traffic ticket before taking the course?
Unless you are challenging the ticket in court, Alaska DMV advises paying it before taking the course for point reduction. Otherwise, the course credit may not reduce your point total as intended. If you are contesting the ticket or have a court order, follow the applicable court process.

Can I take the Alaska course on my phone or tablet?

How often can I take defensive driving for a point reduction?
You may take an approved defensive driving course for a 2-point reduction once every 12 months. Completing additional courses within that period does not provide another course-based point reduction.

Does taking defensive driving erase my traffic ticket?
No. Completing a defensive driving course cannot dismiss an Alaska traffic citation or erase the violation. It may reduce accumulated license points, or fulfill a court-directed course requirement if accepted by that court.

What happens after I complete the course?
We send proof of successful completion to Alaska DMV and provide your completion certificate. If you enrolled for point reduction, DMV applies the eligible reduction. If a court referred you, also provide proof to the court as directed in your order. Keep your certificate for your records.

What information do I need to register?
Registration is simple. You will generally need basic information such as your name, email address, driver's license information, and any citation or case information applicable to your course.
