Can I complete a Failure to Yield course online?
Yes. Wisconsin DMV lists approved online Right-of-Way/Failure-to-Yield courses. Verify that the provider and course you select appear on its current approved list before enrolling.

How long do I have to finish the course?
You must complete it within six months of the date of Wisconsin DMV’s notice. If you miss the deadline, your driving privilege may be suspended until you complete the requirement and qualify for reinstatement.

Does this course reduce my demerit points?
No. WisDOT says a Failure to Yield/Right-of-Way course through a private driver training school does not reduce your demerit points. Wisconsin’s separate Traffic Safety School may offer a three-point reduction and is offered in person at local technical colleges.

Will taking this course dismiss my ticket?
No. This course is a requirement after conviction for certain violations. Completing it does not dismiss or erase the conviction.

How long does the course take?
WisDOT says approved Right-of-Way courses are typically about two hours long. Your actual completion time can vary; check the approved course details before enrolling.

How will Wisconsin DMV know I finished?
The approved course provider reports completion to Wisconsin DMV within 24 hours. Keep the certificate for your records and check your status if you are waiting to reinstate your license.

Can I take the course if I live outside Wisconsin?
Yes. The requirement applies to a person convicted of an eligible violation in Wisconsin regardless of where that person lives. An approved online course can be an option.

What if my license is already suspended?
Complete an approved Right-of-Way course. After the provider reports your completion to DMV, check your driving status and eligibility to reinstate. Other reinstatement requirements may still apply.

Is Failure to Yield the same as Traffic Safety School?
No. A Failure to Yield/Right-of-Way course meets the specified Wisconsin requirement but does not reduce points. Traffic Safety School is a separate in-person course through local technical colleges that may allow an eligible driver to request a three-point reduction.
